RN program frequently asked questions

What do we do?

We prepare LPNs for your Associates Nursing Degree, then the Nursing Boards (NCLEX) test. We hold small classes in our North Coast Training Center in Solon, Ohio. We use the finest concise tutorial material available for the General Education and Nursing Education Exams (third party). We have a very high completion rate for these courses and course tests.  Get a fast start on your first accelerated course.

Why do we do it?

There is a tremendous and growing demand for Registered Nurses estimated to be over 1 million by 2017. LPN’s, RT’s and Paramedics have acquired many of the skills necessary to become RN’s. As a RN, your financial gain can be huge when you complete our Nursing RN program.  We have the skills and experience to help you and other adults learn and succeed … and we use those skills in our North Coast RN program.

How do we do it?

We find terrific instructors for our classes typically not available in other programs.  All General Education instructors are degreed, experienced, and professional Master Tutors.  Classes are limited to 10 students. All Nursing Education instructors are experienced Registered Nurses with proven communication skills. If students struggle, our special instructors are available to help fill in any gaps in education. It’s important to us that your North Coast RN experience is strong and successful. WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED!

What are your benefits?

Your learning comes from knowledgeable RN communicators  who understand your needs. You may have struggled in school when you were younger, and you may have a negative feeling about learning. Our goal is to change that perception.  Many employers reimburse the cost for the courses we offer. In addition, when completed most employers provide pay increases as much as $20,000 to $30,000 per year. New employers may offer signing bonuses from $10,000 to $15,000 for RNs.

Why not online?

Our experience shows that online courses require incredible skills: extreme persistence and determination to finish. Many students start out online, then switch to a more traditional approach. Our program enables a student to continue courses without waiting for a new semester or term. And, you complete courses at your own pace.

Why not traditional college?

Many traditional colleges have exceptionally long waiting lists (2 years in some cases), are inflexible, highly structured, and insist on certain irrelevant courses. Once you become a student within a traditional brick and mortar college, communications often are difficult.

Can I transfer other college credits to this program?

Yes, you can if your transfer credits are for similar required courses. Transfer credits are subject to acceptance by Excelsior College. You will reduce your cost and shorten your program by transferring credits.

How long will it take?

If you are working, it may take 1-1/2 years to 2 years. You will complete your ASN degree faster if you take more than one course at a time (not recommended if you are working or if you take two difficult courses at the same time). How much time do you have to devote to your RN degree?

How much will my RN certificate cost?

There is no simple answer. Start with this idea – we customize a RN plan just for you!  The cost varies for everyone joining our program. Some of the variables are: previously earned college credits, employer tuition reimbursement programs, financial goals, and specific financial arrangements.

With all these factors in mind, you can see it makes sense to create a plan just for you. Call or visit Marci Atkins to get your RN plan started. Marci  is our Program Director and will make it as easy for you as possible. Call Marci at 440-914-0200.
